Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)

Beginning January 2015 all schools should be involved in problem solving to make data based decisions to ensure high success for ALL students. A multi-tiered system of supports is a framework that provides a multi-step, data-driven framework of implementing instruction, interventions, and enrichment to ensure that all students are successful learners academically and behaviorally.

This framework:

  • Provides high quality academic and behavioral instruction and intervention matched to student need.
  • Monitors progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction, learning, and/or behavior goals.
  • Applies student response data for making important educational decisions for students.
